Many times in medicine we do what we are taught in school without questioning the reason behind the test. We lose the way to critically think. Some tests we do like Dr. Gunn’s pupil testing was documented in the late 1880’s and Goldman tonometer is from the 1950’s. We need to think of why we do something and why there might be a better way of testing. These topics don’t have answers and are open to debate. My goal is challenge the status quo and improve eye exam efficiency while maintaining comprehensive testing.
The following are topics that I can be debated:
- Kaiser 1 day cataract surgery follow up and LASIk
- Skipping pupils testing
- Checking iop with Goldman
- Checking iop with NCT
- Skipping Color Vision testing
- Skipping Keratometry
- Skipping PRA on kids
- Vergences
- Cover test over Maddox rod
- What might optos Miss? pXF
- What optos can see that dilation doesn’t ?
- Retro illumination, sclertic scatter . Only parallelpiped
- Distance vs near phoria
- Von graefe vs Maddox rod
- Not checking VAs on kid
- Looking anterior vitreous
- Not refer to uveitis specialist
